University of Sussex to offer degree apprenticeships to local employers

As part of the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology (IoT), the University of Sussex will be offering degree apprenticeships for employers from September 2024, helping to address skills gaps in the region.

The University of Sussex will offer Level 7 master degree programmes in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, as well as a Level 6 undergraduate degree apprenticeship in Business Analytics and Digital Technology.

As part of the offer, local employers will have the chance to co-create apprenticeship programmes, within the overall academic framework and IfATE standards, to meet specific skills gap in their business, training current staff and making use of funding from the Apprenticeship Levy.

Employees will have the opportunity to obtain a degree while continuing to work, committing one working day a week of dedicated study to the programme. Undergraduate degree apprenticeships are likely to last three and half years, with masters level apprenticeships lasting two and half years.
