It’s Festival May-hem in Brighton this month with thousands of events taking place across the city. Established in 1967, the internationally-renowned Brighton Festival celebrates the arts in all its guises and invites esteemed artists from around the world to come and perform. For the first three weeks of May the city vibrates with theatre, music, dance, art, literature and debate, with outdoor and family events, too.
The Festival officially opens this weekend (4 May) with the Children’s Parade. Over 5,000 school children from across the city bring colourful floats and costumes to the city streets, inspired by 2024 Guest Director, Frank Cottrell-Boyce’s theme of ‘Dream Again’.
Running alongside the Festival, the Brighton Fringe embraces every art form supporting artists both new and established. Want to see something that pushes the boundaries of artistic expression? Then come to Brighton in May!
This month also sees the annual Artists’ Open House trails where visitors can buy all kinds of art, jewellery and ceramics direct from the artists in homes across the city.
