Surrey Innovation District Companies Celebrate Success in Second Round of Local Economic Growth Fund

Three startups from the Surrey Innovation District have successfully been awarded funding in the second round of Surrey County Council’s Economic Growth Fund. Rhizo PTX, Morpheus Fluid and Mantisonix, are the latest companies to be awarded funding, with several Surrey Research Park-based businesses successfully receiving funding in the first round.

Together, the results highlight the strength and value of the Surrey Innovation District ecosystem — with Surrey Research Park at its heart — to support science-led startups as they move from research to commercial application.

Rhizo PTX and Morpheus Fluid, a University of Surrey spin-out, are members of Surrey Research Park’s SETsquared Surrey business incubator, where expert mentors support commercial development, investment readiness and scale-up strategy. Morpheus Fluid specialises in meshless computational fluid dynamics and will use its award to accelerate development of its simulation platform. The technology enables faster, high-precision modelling of complex fluid flows, with applications across aerospace, engineering and environmental sectors. While Rhizo PTX is developing an electrochemical process for nitrogen fixation that offers a more flexible and energy-efficient alternative to conventional methods for producing green ammonia

There was also success for University of Surrey spin-out Mantisonix, which will use its funding to further develop ultrasonic technology capable of breaking down persistent “forever chemicals”, addressing a significant environmental challenge.

Caroline Fleming, Director of Surrey Innovation District and Innovation Lead at Surrey Research Park, said:

“To have three more companies linked to the Surrey Innovation District succeed in the latest round of Surrey County Council’s Economic Growth Fund is a strong endorsement of the innovation and business community we foster in our region. It is also a great way to start 2026.”
