In significant steps to progress several key Transform Leatherhead projects, Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) Cabinet has approved a 50:50 joint venture partnership with Kier Property (to deliver redevelopment of Bull Hill and the Swan Centre), a new specialist developer for the Claire House and James House riverside site, and a brand new partnership with Surrey County Council (SCC) to work together on a ‘future towns’ scheme.
The Transform Leatherhead regeneration programme aims to reinvent and re-energise the town centre, to deliver a friendly, vibrant and lively modern market town where people of all ages can shop, eat, relax and have fun, thereby enhancing the quality and breadth of the town centre offer.
Over the past 18 months MVDC has worked in conjunction with property consultants Montagu Evans and external legal advisors Freeths LLP to agree legal and financial arrangements with joint venture partners Kier Property – investors and developers of sites across the UK and specialists in urban regeneration.
The Cabinet-approved partnership will now look to begin the first phase of public engagement later this year, allowing residents and businesses the opportunity to have their say and feed into the early development plans for the two town centre sites.
