The Chair of trade body, UKspace, and founder of In-Space Missions, Doug Liddle, has been appointed as Professor in Practice at the University of Surrey to help lead the newly established Surrey Space Institute.
Doug brings over three decades of experience in the space sector to the role, much of it in industry, and an extensive professional network. He will work alongside the Founding Director of the Surrey Space Institute, Professor Adam Amara, and will lead the University’s engagement with the UK Space Agency and DSIT. A priority of the Surrey Space Institute will be to support the scaling up of small and medium-sized enterprises in the space sector, where Doug’s track record and experience of building and selling In-Space Missions will complement the University’s legacy, which includes the spinning out of the successful Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL).
